To make the Spacefest Poker Set truly one of a kind, we’ve incorporated the culturally significant art of "Sơn Mài". This traditional lacquer painting technique involves meticulous layering and polishing, requiring both skill and patience. Multiple layers of lacquer are applied and carefully refined, each one bringing out the design’s depth and vibrancy. The process can take weeks or even months, with each layer drying naturally before the next. The result is a stunning, mirror-like finish that showcases the artisans' craftsmanship and adds a timeless, luxurious touch to the set.
Surface Sanding
After being meticulously shaped, the MDF wood base is coated with a protective AB adhesive to make it waterproof. Any surface imperfections are seamlessly filled with a specialized adhesive mixture. Throughout the process, our artisans immerse the product in water to remove even the tiniest dust particles, ensuring a spotless finish. To safeguard the wood core from moisture damage, a precise application of filler and primer is applied between each sanding step. Every stage is executed with care, resulting in a flawlessly smooth surface that reflects the artistry behind the craft.
Product Coloring
Once the surface is smoothly sanded, our artisans apply the first layer of base color primer and carefully inspect the wood base again. After confirming there are no additional flaws, the initial coating is lightly abraded to create a surface ready to grip the second base coat. Finally, when the wood base has fully absorbed the primer layers, the artisans apply the final color coat, imbuing the surface with a refined and subtle hue.
Design Completion
When the paint has dried, the artwork on the lid is UV-printed with sharp, lasting color. To achieve a mirror-like sheen, three layers of gloss are expertly applied to the surface. The product then undergoes a three-stage water polishing process, followed by buffing with specialized cream. This ensures that the final finish is not only dust-free but also radiates a perfect gloss, accentuating every intricate detail of the lid's design with clarity.
